During this module, we learned to use artificial intelligence as an assistant in every aspect of preschool: activity and game plan, observation and report, visual-material, song-story, parent communication, inclusive adaptation. This closing unit establishes the framework that sits above it all: ethics, privacy, verification, and responsible use in the classroom. Because no matter how useful AI is, its misuse in a profession that works with young children can cause real harm. This unit brings the entire module into a single responsibility discipline. The basic principle has not changed and will not change: AI is a draft generator and assistant; Every decision, every evaluation and final approval about the child belongs to the teacher. An unverified AI output is like an unsigned document — it goes through your approval before entering the classroom.
Four columns: these are under each usage
We can collect responsible use in four pillars. Make these a control reflex every time you use an AI.
1) Privacy. The child's name, identity, photo, health and family information are never entered into the AI tool. Every text is anonymized; The ID is last added on your own device. KVKK and child privacy are the legal and ethical basis for this. Your test: "If this text were leaked, would it be obvious which child it was?"
2) Verification. AI is fluid but inaccurate; can make up the phenomenon, age norm, source, matching (hallucination). Every factual content is confirmed from reliable source. Your test: "Do I think it's true because the AI said it, or have I verified it?"
3) Human decision. Developmental assessment, diagnosis, referral, concern for a child—these are human. At best, AI corrects the language. Your test: "Does this decision affect a child's development/future? If so, the AI cannot decide."
4) Originality and copyright. Branded characters are not used in the production of visuals, songs or stories, and copyrighted works are not copied; Original production is requested and verified. Originality in education and creative fields is both a legal and professional responsibility.
Caution: If any of these four columns are violated the output should not enter the class. If all four are met, AI will safely save you time. Responsibility binds the user, not the vehicle; The teacher is responsible for the mistake, not the AI.
Developmental appropriateness: a framework to remember
The background of the entire module is developmental appropriateness: the correspondence of an activity, material, story to the child's age, development and interest. Although AI knows age, it does not know the huge differences between 3-6 years of age, security risks and focus times as much as you do. Compare each printout with “does this really match my children's age and development?” Reviewing is the inalienable job of teaching.
Transparency: don't hide what you use
An under-talked aspect of responsible use is transparency. There is no shame in using AI as an assistant; But hiding what you use damages trust. Be clear with parents, management and colleagues: Saying “I speed up newsletter drafts with an AI tool, I control and personalize its content” is both honest and shows that use is responsible. Transparency is also a tool for self-control: if you can clearly say where you're using it, you're probably using it correctly; If you're hesitant to say so (e.g. because you're entering child data), that's a warning sign. Natural honesty is also required with children: older children may ask how a picture or story was made; Saying "I told the computer what I wanted, and it drew us a sketch, and then we corrected it" is an age-appropriate and honest statement. Transparency transforms technology from a shortcut to be hidden into a professional tool that is openly owned.
Establishing a classroom/institution policy
Responsible use requires more than personal good will, it requires a written framework. A simple AI use policy for a preschool should include: what data can and can't go into AI (never child data), an anonymization rule, what work is free/tightly-controlled/prohibited in AI, human approval points, copyright and originality policies, and who to consult if there is a problem. AI may draft this policy for you; But according to the reality of the institution, the final version is given by the administrators and teachers.
three mini cases
Case 1 — Four column test in action. While speeding up a progress report with AI, a teacher checked four columns in order: no names in the text (confidentiality ✔), each sentence is based on factual observation (verification ✔), evaluation comes from own observation, AI just constructed the language (human decision ✔), original text, no copyright issues (originality ✔). The report went safely. This four-step reflex prevented the mistake in the first place.
Case 2 — Benefit of policy. In a kindergarten, a teacher was about to upload a photo of a child into a visual AI; He remembered the article in the institution's AI policy that said "photos of children will never be uploaded to AI" and gave up. The written policy stopped a spur-of-the-moment distraction before it turned into an actual privacy violation. The institution had AI draft the policy and finalized it with its own rules.
Case 3 — Integrated use. One teacher accelerated a week's work with end-to-end AI: an activity plan (Unit 2), a learning center (Unit 3), an observation pattern (Unit 4), a story (Unit 8), a monthly newsletter (Unit 9). He anonymized, verified, made the decision himself, and preserved authenticity at every step. Preparation time has been reduced by more than half; He devoted the time he saved to one-on-one interaction with children. AI saved time, deepened teaching — not delegated.

Common mistakes
- Skipping four columns and using the output directly. Make it a reflex.
- Entering child data as "it's a small thing this time". There are no exceptions.
- Mistaking fluency for accuracy. Nice article may be wrong.
- Delegating the decision to AI. Evaluation and approval are always in the hands of humans.
- Not writing politics at all. The written frame stops the mistake in the moment of absent-mindedness.
Tip: Turn the four-pillar test (privacy, authentication, human judgment, authenticity) into a habit: pass these four questions without bringing every AI output into the classroom. This reflex, which takes seconds over time, protects you both legally, ethically and professionally, and safely turns AI into a time saver.
In summary
