These materials put abstract skills into a form that the child can see, touch and repeat. But preparing good material takes time; It takes hours to draw cards, design pages, and write stories for a week. This is where artificial intelligence is a great accelerator: producing text, stories and design drafts in minutes. In this unit, we will cover how to produce materials with artificial intelligence and how to check these materials for age appropriateness, accessibility, accuracy and copyright.
Let's briefly define the material types. A concept card is a card that presents a concept (color, animal, emotion, object) visually and/or in words. The activity page is a page that the child will work on (matching, coloring, drawing). A visually aided chart is a chart that shows the daily routine or steps of a task with pictures; It works especially well in transitions and predictability. A social story is a short text that describes a social situation (going to the doctor, waiting in line, getting used to a new place) from the child's perspective, in a simple and positive language; It helps the child understand in advance what will happen.
The role of artificial intelligence and safe streaming
Artificial intelligence reproduces the text of the material (social story sentences, card labels, instruction texts) very well. It also helps with visual production, but here attention is compounded: visual models sometimes produce images that are anatomically incorrect, culturally inappropriate, overly detailed (distracting), or age-inappropriate. Additionally, the text may contain spelling errors, misconceptions, or expressions that are too abstract for the age.
Safe streaming:
- Determine the purpose of the material and the child's level. Which concept/situation, which age, which need?
- Have the AI produce text/story/design draft.

Social story and accessibility principles
A few principles are important when writing a social story: from the child's point of view ("I'm going to the doctor"), positive and descriptive language, short sentences, a structure that clearly describes what will happen and what the child can do, and a non-frightening tone. In terms of accessibility: simple visuals, high contrast, few stimuli on the page (one concept, one page), large and readable text, and visual + word together if necessary. The principle of "less stimulation" is especially critical in children with attention and sensory sensitivity; Crowded, bright, multicolored materials distract rather than teach skills.
Tip: Follow the "one page, one concept" rule. AI often tends to fill the page, adding lots of elements; you simplify. Fewer items means more learning for the child.
Visually supported communication and design of the material according to its function
For some children, the material is not just a teaching tool, but a communication tool. Visually supported communication (making requests with picture cards, making choices, showing the order) helps children with limited verbal language express themselves and understand their environment. Design principles are even more critical here: the card must convey a single, clear meaning, the image must be in a form the child recognizes (concrete, familiar object rather than abstract symbol), and the set must be consistent (same concept with the same visual everywhere). AI can generate these card texts and visual depictions; But the specialist checks the consistency and whether the child really recognizes the image.
It is also important to design the material according to its function. A daily routine schedule provides predictability; It should be simple, ordered and unchanging to reduce anxiety. An electoral board gives autonomy; It should offer two or three clear options. An emotional scale helps the child show his or her state (through facial expressions); It should be culturally appropriate and contain few clear emotions. three mini cases
Case 1 — Preparation with social story. A 5-year-old child who is forced into new situations will give a blood test. The specialist produces a social story with the first prompt ("I'm going to the hospital. The nurse will clean my arm. It will be a short injection, it may tingle a little..."). She prints out the story with simple images and reads it with the family in advance. Since the child can predict the process, the process goes much calmer. It takes 10 minutes to prepare the story instead of 40 minutes manually.
Case 2 — Visual fidelity error. The expert produces visuals for animal-sound concept cards; The AI mistakenly puts a different animal under “cow” in an image, and the concept-image mismatches in a card. Expert 3. inspects with prompt and visually; Fixes the faulty card. If unsupervised, the child would learn the wrong pairing.

Common mistakes
- Not checking visual accuracy: Wrong matching teaches the child wrong.
- Overstimulation: Multicolored/ornate material is distracting; simplify.
